    Got this from Active --. Active Products Inc. Tom C Yes, the 40' hose provided with the 2.3 is steel braided, and so is the 20' hose for the 2.0. We've seen some users having some surging issues with the 2.0 using the Uberflex, so we recommend using a steel-braided hose like the Kobrajet for this unit.

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav 19 часов назад

      Later after this video I started getting the surging issues with the Uberflex. I switched to my Kevlar braided hose and have not looked back. There is for sure issues with the 2.0 and the flexible hoses which expand under pressure causing the pressure switch to not act right. The wire braiding helps keep that expansion from happening.

    Even though some challenges, great video to test this out, that is a super good deal. Did you add the additional 8 pounds of resin? It got a little confusing, I'm assuming you just took out the resin it came with and just put it back in. Do you think you could get that tube seated back down in if there was more resin in the tank and do you think you could get the whole 8 lbs in? Thanks.

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav 20 часов назад

      I didn’t add any resin I tested with the way it came and weighed the resin and out it back. Just suggested there is much more capacity to be used. You could get the rest of the resin in easily and as long as you got water above the resin then it will go in there may take some time, but the water being in there makes it so much easier. Just make sure to run the water for 5 minutes to get any resin that might have been forced through the filter out so it doesn’t clog nozzles.

    • @enj9400
      @enj9400 15 часов назад

      @@CarsWithKeav I was thinking the same thing about how would adding more resin to fill up the tank up would affect its' performance. Since your Spotbye DI System testing performed better with a smaller tank & less resin before the PPM numbers started climbing. Which one would you pick between the 2 while ignoring the bypass on the Griots? Do you think the resin that they came with made a difference?

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav 15 часов назад

      @@enj9400 The difference between the two had a lot to do with me running at 4gpm vs 2.5gpm on the Spotbye. Once the resin breaks down to a certain point you need extra time on the resin to stay at a lower ppm. They both are the exact same type of system so they should not perform any different if at the same flow. Griots possibly could have lower quality resin as well. But no way to know that. I do think if Griots was at 2.5gpm it would have been well beyond the 400 gallon mark before going above 0ppm. If you got good water the Spotbye is a great value. If you want to change refills less often the Griots is the way to go.

    • @enj9400
      @enj9400 12 часов назад

      @@CarsWithKeav I think the Griots system is the best value (extra capacity + bypass) for my Active 2.0 but I'd still toss an extra bag of that colombian bam bam to fill that tank up 🤣

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav 21 час назад

      If it’s coming out of where it swivels then I’m not sure much can be done. Unless it’s a leak internal and it’s coming out of the gun at the swivel. There are a few areas that can be tightened if you remove the plastic coverings. If it’s a threaded area Teflon and leverage to tighten might help.

    Blo gt dryer V water softener cost benefit analysis, from chatgpt. Not checked ### 1. Initial Costs #### BLo GT Car Dryer - **Purchase Cost:** Approximately $350-$400. #### Water Softener Filter (0 ppm TDS) - **Purchase Cost:** Varies based on the system, generally between $200-$500 for high-quality units. ### 2. Ongoing Costs #### BLo GT Car Dryer - **Electricity Usage:** Minimal, approximately 1.5-2 kWh per use (depending on the model and duration of use). - **Maintenance Costs:** Low, occasional replacement of filters if applicable. #### Water Softener Filter - **Filter Replacement:** Costs vary, typically $50-$150 per filter, with replacement needed every 6 months to 1 year based on usage. - **Maintenance Costs:** Potential costs for maintenance of the softening system. - **Water Wastage:** Some systems require periodic cycling to prevent stagnation, which can waste water. - **Algae Risk Management:** Additional costs for algae prevention and cleaning, which might include algaecides or manual cleaning. ### 3. Effectiveness #### BLo GT Car Dryer - **Effectiveness:** High, ensures water is blown off the surface, reducing the risk of water spots and streaks, especially in hard water areas. - **Convenience:** Takes time and effort to manually dry the car, but highly effective in removing water from hard-to-reach areas. #### Water Softener Filter - **Effectiveness:** High, as it removes minerals from the water, reducing the risk of water spots and streaks. - **Convenience:** Easy to use since it only requires regular washing without manual drying, making it less labor-intensive. - **Usage Frequency:** Must be used at least weekly to prevent stagnation and algae growth. ### 4. Convenience and Practicality #### BLo GT Car Dryer - **Setup:** Easy to set up and use; requires access to an electrical outlet. - **Portability:** Portable and can be used anywhere with electricity. #### Water Softener Filter - **Setup:** Requires installation, potentially by a professional. - **Usage:** Simplifies the car washing process, as the water used for washing is already free of minerals. - **Water Cycling:** May need periodic cycling to prevent stagnation, which can waste water and add to the overall cost and environmental impact. ### 5. Long-Term Considerations #### BLo GT Car Dryer - **Durability:** Generally durable with proper maintenance. - **Versatility:** Can be used for other drying purposes (e.g., detailing). #### Water Softener Filter - **Durability:** Long-lasting systems if properly maintained. - **Water Quality:** Improves overall water quality, benefiting other uses (e.g., household water). - **Algae Risk:** Requires attention to prevent algae growth, which can increase maintenance efforts and costs. ### Summary of Cost-Benefit Analysis | Factor | BLo GT Car Dryer | Water Softener Filter (0 ppm TDS) | |----------------------------|-------------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| | Initial Cost | $350-$400 | $200-$500 | | Ongoing Cost | Low (electricity, occasional filter)| Medium to High (filter replacement, maintenance, water cycling, algae prevention) | | Effectiveness | High (manual drying) | High (automatic water softening) | | Convenience | Manual effort required | Automated, less labor-intensive | | Practicality | Easy to use, portable | Requires installation, less portable | | Long-Term Benefits | Durable, versatile | Improves overall water quality, potential algae risk management needed | | Water Usage | Efficient, no water wastage | Potential water wastage due to cycling | | Usage Frequency | Use as needed | Must be used weekly to prevent algae | ### Conclusion - **BLo GT Car Dryer:** Ideal for those who prefer a hands-on approach to car drying and want to ensure complete removal of water, especially beneficial in regions with hard water. Lower ongoing costs but requires manual effort. - **Water Softener Filter:** Best for users who prefer a more automated and less labor-intensive solution. It offers additional benefits of improved overall water quality but comes with higher ongoing costs, potential algae risk, and the need for periodic water cycling, which can waste water. The choice between the two depends on the user's preference for manual labor versus automation, initial budget, and willingness to maintain the system and manage algae risks.

    To say Uberflex is beginner hose is crazy!

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav День назад

      Not really at least to me and with these much bigger machines a heavier duty steel braided hose is preferred and even recommended. Since it is using m22 fittings which is keeping within what they came with stock so the Uberflex to me would be the next step up in upgrades from the crappy stock hoses, but for sure not the final step in the upgrade path. I used one for awhile and after the hype wore off I’m glad I went back to my 3/8 hoses. I really don’t like anything about it anymore except it’s a much better option than most hoses that come with most cheaper pressure washers. Of course thats my opinion of course and others may think different. Many love them and think they are the best. It’s all subjective.

    Good video. In my day job I service a customer that builds large scale water filtration systems for disaster areas and shipping/cruise ships. They also reclaim resin and make their own. I needed to replace the resin in my Adam's Polishes/On The Go standard DI system with bypass. They gave me some resin the try. I bought an inline water meter so i could monitor water usage. I have 150-200ppm coming in and I was shocked to only have gotten 177 gallons of filtered water before the ppm started to climb. I'm hoping meter wasn't measuring water usage correctly. It looks like I am using the same flow meter.

      Could be the meter and possibly was that resin given to you 100% regenerated or possibly a bad mix? Do you dial back the flow coming in to match the max for the system? I currently have a 1 cu.ft. unit at my home and love it. If you order all the parts individually from various suppliers, I was able to get the total price down to about $420. FYI if anyone is wondering it’s a Clack system bypass. On-The-Go (which makes the DI kit for Adam’s and some others and potentially even Griots) sells the kit. Or can source the parts individually I believe OTG also sells brass and stainless adapters if needed. I’ve spoken to OTG a couple times and they’re very helpful. May pick up their bypass head for my smaller Adam’s DI that has the basic distribution head

    • @CarsWithKeav

      The tank is Clack as well knowing Griits they went straight to Clack and branded especially at the price they are selling. The Adam’s one for basically the same size is like $500+ as they are paying OTG to build them. Griots might also be using a different resin or even a cheaper regenerated resin to get the price down.

    • @CarsWithKeav

      Yes, parts are available for the bypass sections if you break something in the head itself then there are replacement heads at many water filter company websites. Another fantastic review -- I just picked one up on a father's day sale for the lowest price I've seen, in large part because of your review. Thanks!!! I'm hoping you can help me solve a 'problem' I've been struggling with for a while. I've been looking for a nozzle to swap onto my pressure washer short gun for the final rinse that will give me smooth garden hose like flow, leaving no beads on a ceramic coated car. I'm thinking something with a similar 5.0 orifice that has a garden sprayer type orbit, vs a flat high pressure fan, or maybe even a bigger orifice like an 8.0 to further lower the pressure, but I'm not sure if that will overwork the motor on the AR630. Now I know I could add a garden hose reel to my pressure washer / DI setup, but that's really adding several extra steps to each wash, not to mention the additional cost. Swapping out a nozzle on the short gun would be much better. Current process: presoak with Touch-Less, pressure rinse, spray foam shampoo, hand wash single bucket method, pressure rinse. Current setup: AR630TSS with Cox Reel and OG blue pressure washer hose, OG spec gun, DI Rinse Pro 50 tank. (Just uninstalled the Active VE52 to make room for the AR arriving tomorrow.) If you can come up with a solution for the ideal sheeting/non-beading final rinse pressure washer nozzle I'd be forever grateful. I'm sure if there's anyone that can do it it's you!!!

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav День назад

      I have found the black detergent tips work real well for a final rinse when the pressure washer is turned off and just using the flowing water. I don’t like to run my pressure washer without a tip that gets decent pressure. I don’t know if it will damage it running basically garden hose pressure through a running pressure washer. It just sounds like it overworking. That was the main reason I added the garden hose reel I couldn’t get the final rinse pattern I wanted.

    Have this system. Worked great for less than 2 months approximately 10 car washes. After that, water spots came back. Ruined one of my black cars. Stay away… Purchased from Amazon btw. Not surprised it’s no longer listed there anymore.

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav 2 дня назад

      What was your TDS beforehand? Are you referring to the CR spotless or the RV mods modification? If it’s the cr spotless these systems are only as good as the water coming in. If your water is very hard it will deplete these units far sooner than those with soft water such as myself. CR spotless has a built in TdS meter to keep an eye on when the spots can come back and when to order refills. Not saying you may not have had an issue, but DI resin is not something that just stops working due to defect it’s all based on the water quality. I could get 100 washes and a 1000 gallons and somebody else could get 10 washes and 100 gallons. The resin does the same amount of work either way, but hard water makes it work harder and it loses it ability to clean sooner. Also you must regulate the flow coming in to not exceed 2.5 GPM or it will deplete sooner.
